I hope you enjoyed time with your family & had a nice Thanksgiving!      Report cards will be coming home on November 28th. It's important to keep in mind a couple of things. First, if your child is not a "3" the goal is to get there by the end of 4th grade. Students develop at their own pace. Second, students will continue to get individualized and group intervention in the areas below a "3" which is considered at grade level. Also, in math, and reading, there are ways to practice at home, which is probably necessary if the practice at school is not enough to master these goals. Students who are struggling with fractions nee...

Report Cards go home on the 28th. Please note that our report card standards are FULL year 4th grade standards. Please do not be alarmed if your student does not have all 3s on his/her report card at this time. It is truly OK if your student has not yet mastered each standard as they are Full year/ END of Year 4th grade expectations. Students will receive multiple opportunities to show mastery throughout the year. Our goal is learning and growth and we do not view learning and mastery as an endpoint. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out.     This last week the playground was extremely muddy. If possible I encourage students to bring an extra pair of pants, shoes, or socks just in case. It's just not possible for Mrs. Kauffman t...

This week begins the student council stuff-a-truck food donation collection.  Students are encouraged to bring any non-perishable food items to school each day. For a friendly competition, there will be a pizza party for the lower & upper el classes with the most donations. Thanks for your help in supporting our community! The Winn Dixie movie reward was a huge success! During the movie, kids were naturally comparing the movie to the book. It was fantastic to hear that the book was better and had more details! We enjoyed popcorn, pickles, Dump punch, and root beer & strawberry candy. Thanks to those who sent in items & thanks to Maggie for making & serving the punch! Since Friday is a half day and the end of the 1st trimester, we will have a read-in to celebrate all o...

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Our Halloween party was awesome because of all of you. Adrienne did an amazing job organizing everything and we so appreciated all the parents who came or sent items. We all had a blast! Thanks to Garron's parents, we have a new lunch tub! Also, thanks to everyone who sent in glue sticks. We already have all the items for the Winn Dixie movie viewing on Friday too. You guys rock! I will be reteaching equivalent fractions and comparing/ordering fractions from unit 2 this week. Anyone with a score of a 1 or 2 on the unit test, will be taking a new test to be assessed for report cards. Extra IXL practice in 4th-grade math O.8, O.9, O.26, or anything else in the O column will be helpful.  In reading, we are working on finding the main idea. Students are still required ...
